In anticipation of Halloween, I thought I’d feature some lots from our after-sale that are spooky, eerie, ghostly, ghastly, or unsettling.
But by all means the most frightening photo of all is Brian Lav’s image of Eastern State Penitentiary. Eastern State is the site of Terror Behind the Walls, one of the scariest and most elaborate haunted houses in the world.
This 11-acre prison was abandoned from 1971 until the early 1990s and remains in a state of “semi-ruin.” As if prisons aren’t nightmare material already, it turns into a haunted house (and big source of seasonal employment) every fall. According to their website, “nearly 60 paranormal investigation teams explore the site each year, capturing extensive evidence of ghosts within the penitentiary walls.”
