How It Went

posted in: auction 2014 | 0

Thanks so much to everyone who helped make this year’s benefit auction a success!

This year was our first time making a concerted effort at social media marketing, and the results were certainly positive. We sold eight pictures absentee with the “End This Auction” feature before our event on October 11, and we had more absentee bids than in years past. At the event itself, there was a slightly smaller audience in the room than usual. But we’re looking forward to what our after-auction sales may bring.

At the auction preview, a number of people expressed interest in the Steichen photogravures. They followed through, and there were several exciting and intense bidding wars for these lots.

We were delighted to have a jazz band on board for the first time. Thanks, Julian Hartwell Trio!

Congratulations to Project Basho and Tsuyoshi Ito for receiving The 2014 Photo Review Award for Services to the Field of Photography.

Special thanks are also due to Alex Novak, who donated the wine, and to our volunteers: Elissa Anderson, Matt Beniamino, Malcolm Culleton, Jessica Hriniak, Emma Perloff, Joel Rice, and John Singletary. We couldn’t have done it without you!

Thanks to Kristen Bailey and Cindy Spitko, two local (and fabulous) Philadelphia actors, who coordinated and provided catering.

Check on our auction page for more information about our after-auction. Our sealed bid auction of unsold lots will close at 5 p.m. on December 8, 2014. We will also honor our “End This Auction” feature through the closing date: bid the high estimate and the auction ends immediately and the lot is yours.

Thanks so much for your continued support!
